Mudita Bell
project context
This project was created for Mudita's main lineup to tackle sleep disruptions caused by smartphone use before bed and upon waking. It promotes leaving smartphones out of the bedroom by offering a classic alarm clock that is both functional and aesthetically appealing as an alternative to smartphone alarms. A key objective was to position Mudita Bell as a more affordable option compared to the more advanced Harmony, while still providing a mindful solution for better sleep. Photos by Mudita

question
The challenge was to design a classic alarm clock with enhanced functionality that remains simple and competitive with smartphone alarms including a wide melody selection, backlight, snooze, and USB-C charging. The goal was to create a wake-up experience that is both gentle and non-disruptive. Additionally, ensuring the alarm clock was pleasing and repairable was crucial, to align with Mudita’s values of longevity and mindful living.
solution
The Mudita Bell is a minimalist alarm clock designed to support the brand’s mission of "leaving the phone out of the bedroom" and promoting a healthy sleep routine. It features neutral colors with a satin finish and high-contrast readable watch face. Offers 10 gradual analog melodies, including koshi bells and nature sounds from Poland. The subtle backlight emits minimal blue light (2700 K) to prevent harsh wake-ups. Powered by a rechargeable 2600 mAh battery lasting around two months, the clock is fully repairable with a simple Phillips screw for easy maintenance.
