question
The challenge was to design a wooden basin that combined sculptural aesthetics with full functionality and production efficiency. Key questions included how to shape the wood to reflect the flow of water while maintaining durability (the name means “flow” or “waving” of water in Swedish). Additionally, the goal was to create a striking visual form that would capture attention and serve as a foundation for future models in the product line.
solution
Svall washbasins are crafted from 100% FSC-certified solid wood, available in a variety of wood types including oak, ash and others, offering a rich color palette. Inspired by the movement of water, the design reflects the fluidity of a wave, with "Svall" meaning flow in Swedish — a concept deeply tied to the element of water. The organic, oval shape evokes the gentle motion of a sea wave. Despite their lightweight and refined appearance, washbasins are exceptionally sturdy, with the natural warmth of the wood seamlessly enhancing any interior.
